POTENSI ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK TUMBUHAN Saraca declinata (Jack) Miq.

Abstract
Saraca declinata (Jack) Miq. adalah tumbuhan asli Indonesia dengan morfologi menyerupai Saraca asoca (Roxb.) W.J.de Wilde yang merupakan tumbuhan asli Pakistan, Myanmar dan Sri Lanka. Saraca asoca (Roxb.) W.J.de Wilde telah banyak diteliti dan digunakan dalam pengobatan Ayuverda. Namun demikian, informasi tentang kegunaan dan bioaktivitas Saraca declinata (Jack) Miq. masih sangat terbatas, Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bioaktivitas ekstrak Saraca declinata (Jack) Miq. sebagai antioksidan. Bunga, batang, dan daun Saraca declinata (Jack) Miq. dikeringkan, digiling dan diekstraksi secara bertingkat menggunakan pelarut n-heksana, diklorometana, etil asetat, dan metanol. Ekstrak kering dari masing-masing sampel kemudian diuji aktivitas antioksidannya dengan metode mikrodilusi terhadap radikal bebas 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Aktivitas antioksidan dari masing-masing sampel juga diuji dengan teknik bioautografi menggunakan kromatografi lapis tipis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak metanol batang dan daun Saraca declinata (Jack) Miq. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat dengan nilai 4.6 dan 2.56 µg/mL. Tumbuhan Saraca declinata (Jack) Miq. sangat potensial untuk dikembangkan lebih lanjut sebagai agen antioksidan maupun sebagai sumber senyawa-senyawa antioksidan.
