Sintesis Grafena Oksida (GO) dan GO/ZnO sebagai Fotokatalis untuk Mendekolorisasi Larutan Metilena Biru

Abstract

Grafena oksida (GO) dapat diaplikasikan sebagai bahan fotokatalis karena kemampuannya dalam mendekolorisasi beberapa jenis zat pewarna organik seperti metilena biru. Pada penelitian ini, GO disintesis dari grafit menggunakan prosedur modifikasi Hummer’s. Sampel GO yang dihasilkan kemudian dikompositkan dengan larutan Zn(NO3)2.6H2O 0,1 M melalui metode kopresipitasi dengan menambahkan larutan NH4OH untuk mengendapkan sampel komposit GO/ZnO. pH endapan GO/ZnO dinetralkan kemudian dikeringkan pada suhu 70ºC selama 8 jam. Sampel GO dan GO/ZnO dikarakterisasi menggunakan X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) dan Fourier Transform - Infra Red Spectroscopy (FT-IR). Hasil XRD menunjukan bahwa sampel GO dan kompositnya telah terbentuk. Namun GO yang dihasilkan masih belum murni. GO dan GO/ZnO lalu diaplikasikan sebagai fotokatalis dalam mendekolorisasi larutan metilena biru (MB) dengan penyinaran cahaya tampak dan sinar matahari. Kondisi optimum fotokatalitik sampel GO, GO/ZnO dan ZnO dapat mendekolorisasi larutan metilen biru 10 ppm dengan sinar cahaya tampak secara berturut-turut sebesar 98.15%, 97.76%, dan 90.92%, sedangkan dengan sinar matahari sebesar 99.16%, 98.35%, dan 99.01% selama 180 menit penyinaran dengan massa fotokatalis 0,05 gram.
