The Role of Confucius in Spirituality and His Teachings for the Chinese Nation

Abstrak

This study aims to discuss the role of Confucius in spirituality and his teachings for the Chinese people. The method used is a qualitative method, with data collection techniques namely literature studies and using data processing techniques with descriptive analysis, to facilitate researchers in compiling detailed and structured data. The discussion of the research includes the biography of Confucius, Confucius' role in the spirituality of the Chinese nation, and his teachings. The results of this study concluded that Confucius was not only an integral part of Chinese civilization, he played a major role in the history of Chinese civilization. He emerged as a role model for many people especially for the Chinese nation. For more than two thousand years, Confucian philosophy has been inextricably linked with the Chinese imperial system as an ideological tool for rulers. He has played a major role in unifying China and has been a force in shaping the mentality and temperament of the Chinese people. Confucian philosophy is an inexhaustible source of values, wisdom and rules for good behavior. Confucius has an important role in Chinese civilization, which influences all aspects of life be it education, social, politics, humanity, and ethics and morals. Thus the role of Confucius for Chinese civilization is inseparable. So that Confucius' teachings from Confucius have become an identity for China. The Confucian teachings are dominated by moral or ethical rules. Whether it's ethics towards fellow human beings: parents; family; friend; up to the teacher. Apart from that, Confucianism also covers every aspect of life, such as governmental, social, and economic which supports the development of civilization in China.
